“Not everyone is gonna believe. That’s alright. They’ll get there when they get there.”
My friend Stacy and I had a “Mom Date” to the movies this evening to see Jennifer Garner’s new movie, “Miracles From Heaven”.
I just had to write a quick post encouraging my readers to see this movie! I don’t want to give the entire movie away, so I will just share a quick overview with y’all. First thing to note is that this movie is based on a true story! That fact alone makes this story all the more incredible! A young girl who suffers from an incurable disease falls down into a tree (yes, into a tree…I didn’t know that was even possible!) and is miraculously cured of her disease! While inside the tree, the girl says she visited Heaven, and while there, was told by Jesus that it wasn’t her time to die, and that she would return completely healed. Did you get chills?! I had them pretty much the entire movie, and no, they did not come from the temperature of the movie theater! The girl miraculously wakes with no major damage from the fall and healed of her disease! Now I know you got chills after reading that! How could you not?! To sum it up, this is a movie about faith.
I’m just going to put it out there, it is SO refreshing to see Hollywood embracing faith and Christianity on the big screen! To have a big name actress like Jennifer Garner star in it alongside Queen Latifah is a pretty big deal! A handful of Christian films have been produced and have been successful, but none offer such big named stars who have such a reach to the public! I applaud these actresses for using their gifts to bring glory to a greater good!
Miracles really are all around us if we just open our eyes to them, and this movie was a great reminder of that to me. It wasn’t perfect, there were definitely some scenes that I didn’t love, but overall I thought it was really beautifully done! I’m all about positive messages in films…we don’t see nearly enough of them!
Looking for some other positive movies to watch with your family? Some of my other favorites are…
“Fireproof” – Based on the book “The Love Dare”, teaches the theme of unconditional love in marriages.
“Courageous” – Teaches men how to be Godly influences on their families. “The Resolution” book series were birthed from this movie.
War Room – A movie about the Power of Prayer!
God’s Not Dead – Non-Believer VS. Believer film
Heaven Is For Real – A near-death experience lead to a little boys very real encounter in Heaven.
Do you have any others I could add to the list? If so, write the name in the comment section and I’ll check it out!
