My Greta Girl is two! How in the world can this be?! Time goes TWO fast!
It seems like only yesterday that I got the surprise of my life when Dr. Nicole Schlechter held up my baby girl and placed her on my chest!
It was such a happy day! And life continues to be happier with our sweet little girl in it! Her smile is infectious, her laugh is contagious, and catching one of her running hugs is holding pure joy in your hands! I always joke that she gives hugs like a linebacker 🙂 Girlfriend loves with all she’s got!!!
Speaking of linebackers, this little girl is so her Daddy! She may be the spitting image of me as a child, but this girl is so her father’s child! The two both share an extreme love of food – all food!
Â
We call our girl “Greta Good Eater” — hopefully she’s inherited her Daddy’s quick metabolism and not Mommy’s slow one 🙂 She’s growing quick, and I was a little nervous that her doctor was going to tell us she was growing too quick in one direction…thankfully her height matches up with her weight and baby girl is 90% for her age for both height and weight! Aside from eating, Greta and her Daddy also overheat – totally prefering the cold, while Beau and I like to snuggle up under blankets and be warm 🙂 I also predict that this girl is going to have her Daddy’s athletic gene! While she has weak jumps (Sorry Greta, that’s from me!) this girl has one incredible arm on her!!! She’s coordinated yet cautious, the latter being something that her brother never was at this age!
She’s learns quick — I guess she has to, to keep up with her Big Bro Beau 🙂 She wants to do EVERYTHING he is doing! Just a few weeks ago, we caught Beau on the monitor showing Greta how to climb out of her crib (her mattress had to be dropped to the floor months ago!) the very next day we found her out of her crib after her nap! While I don’t even want to think about a big girl bed, I guess I need to accept the fact that my baby isn’t a baby anymore…
From her independence to her newfound tantrums when she doesn’t get her way, my baby girl is a full on toddler! But with the bad, comes the good 🙂 She is talking and communicating more which is so much fun! Though she isn’t so easily understood, she is making every effort and will repeat almost anything we ask her to! She has started to string some words together making 2-3 word phrases which makes my Mama heart so happy after we struggled with speech so much with Beau. She has even started to sing some songs on her own! Just yesterday in the car, Beau said “Greta is singing her ABC’s!” – she can make it to E on her own – and is sure to clap and yell “Yay!” at the end! We’ve also caught her singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and “The Wheels On The Bus” 🙂 She is definitely more musical than Beau was at this age…she loves to hold hands when a song is sung during a movie, and is way more likely to break out in random dance without being asked to 🙂 Because of this we decided to have a “Tu-Tu Dance Party” to celebrate her 2nd Birthday, which I will blog about next 🙂
Greta is my creative soul — no wall, window or carpet of mine is safe when this girl gets a hold of a pen, crayon or marker! She loves to doodle and draw and one of her favorite toys is her easel.
I envision days of the future crafting with my girl! Any time I have my sewing machine or Cricut out, she is right by my side, watching it do it’s work!
She loves the outdoors and cries every time we tell her it’s time to come inside! This past summer, she loved swimming in the pool, and currently she’s a big fan of riding her tricycle 🙂 Inside, if she isn’t drawing or climbing somewhere she probably shouldn’t be (for real, I found her lounging in the bathroom sink today!) she can be found flipping thru a book or playing with puzzles 🙂 OR playing in Mommy’s Makeup Drawer…she loves to get into my makeup! Thankfully she hasn’t figured out how to open the bottles…yet!
There is so much goodness wrapped up in her little body, but I think the most evident is her unmistakable heart for animals — especially dogs! I joke that she will one day give me lots of grand-puppes instead of grand-babies! We first noticed her love of dogs while traveling in Europe. She would laugh and kick and point each time she saw a dog! We figured she just missed seeing her dog every day, but we’ve taken notice that her love for dogs is so much more than for her dog, it’s for every dog – real or fake! If you give her a babydoll, she will either put it back where it came from or throw it on the floor…if you give her a stuffed animal, she will hug it and snuggle it and won’t let it leave her side! Her favorite is her stuffed pig who used to sit on her book shelf, but now goes to bed with her each night! We predict that she may very well grow up to be a veterinarian — but we will love her all the same if she’s just a crazy animal person 😉
To celebrate 2, we woke up to a few presents and powdered doughnuts…can you guess which was the bigger hit?!
Though she did enjoy our little post breakfast tea party 🙂
She spent the morning at school, and in the evening we went out for some chicken fingers and french fries — two of her faves! We capped off the night with some cake and ice cream!
My most favorite Birthday Tradition is sneaking a picture of my babies in their Birthday Hat that they wear on the day they are born 🙂
Though it wasn’t a super eventful day since her Birthday fell on a school day, it was special none the less because it was her day and it was filled with so much love!
Here’s to TWO! May it be a special year of growth filled with so much fun and love for our sweet baby girl! And may she always Be Blessed + Be A Blessing!
XO
