Y’all, the Summer Olympics start tonight! Yee! I’m so excited! I LOVE the Olympics, but the Summer Olympics are admittedly my favorite of the two. This is both of my babies first Summer Olympics and I can’t wait to see if they are at all interested in the games this year! To spark their interest and excitement we made our very own Olympic Torch craft to celebrate the opening ceremony tonight! Pun intended – Puns are ALWAYS intended!
We made this Olympic Torch craft THIS morning in 5 minutes time, so it’s NOT too late for you and your kids to do the same to have some Olympic Torch fun tonight! Oh and best part…zero mess! All you need is tissue paper, a toilet paper or paper towel roll and some tin foil…all items I had in the house…though confession, I had to unroll the toilet paper from one of our working rolls so we could make TWO Olympic Torches – because let’s keep it real, big brother is most likely NOT going to pass the torch onto his baby sister, and baby girl will probably destroy hers by attempting to eat it! Just my prediction though – haha!
Now, to do this so simple craft with your kiddos…Place your sheet of red, orange and yellow tissue paper like so…
Pick up all three sheets up from the middle by pinching the paper. Continue to bunch it up to make a bouquet like so…
Stuff the tissue bouquet into the roll to strengthen your creation then add a few layers of tin foil. Doing so will naturally bring the torch to a point, just like the real deal! This years torch has a silver bottom – so the tin foil is clutch!
Ta-Da! Two Olympic Torches ready for tonight’s Opening Ceremonies! Let the games begin!
USA! USA! USA!
