Being a mom of a baby learning to feed herself and a toddler in the middle of potty training, our bathtub gets A LOT of use! It’s hard to believe that something that gets used so often to clean ourselves can get so dirty…but oh does it! When your tub isn’t clean, it isn’t safe, which is a scary realization for a mom using it sometimes up to 8 times a day! What can I say?! My kids LOVE their baths in Mommy and Daddy’s “bubble tub”…I created a couple of clean freaks and I’m okay with that 🙂
I’ll never forget the first time I put on the jets of our whirlpool tub and black substance started floating in my bathwater…I haven’t been the same since. I was disgusted and mortified! I run a clean house and this was not clean! It became my personal mission to find the best way possible to clean my tub.
I searched Google looking for the best ways to clean a jetted bathtub and tried every tutorial. Vinegar…Dishwasher Detergent…Even Bleach! From my personal findings, none of those work better than a product called “Oh Yuk”.
This is a product you need to have in your house if you have a jetted bathtub! The only place you can find it is Amazon, but I have a couple of bottles to give away to some lucky readers!
Oh Yuk was created by a company called Scientific Biofilm Solutions. Their mission is to improve water quality by removing biofilm. Biofilm is that nasty gluelike substance that forms when bacteria adhear to surfaces in water environments. Have you ever let water sit in a waterbottle for a few days then notice how slimy the straw is when you go to clean it? Biofilm…eek! Clogged drains are caused by biofilm, plaque that forms on your teeth is a type of biofilm, and of course that black substance floating in what was supposed to be my relaxing bubble bath was biofilm.
Scientific Biofilm Solutions prides itself in using the purest chemicals in making the highest quality and performing products in its industry. Their website states “We are not satisfied with satisfactory” – which is something that stands out to me as a consumer. They want product perfection as much as I do and I thank them for that!
I reached out to this company recently to praise Oh Yuk and ask for permission to promote it on my blog. They graciously donated a couple of bottles of Oh Yuk to be given away to you, my readers! How cool is that?!
Now that you know some background information, I’m going to share my personal experience with Oh Yuk…including pictures…my brave face is officially on!
Scientific Biofilm Solutions suggests using Oh Yuk on your jetted bathtub once a month. To do so you just fill your tub with the hottest water possible and add in about 2 oz. of the odorless cleaner. Turn on your jets and let Oh Yuk do the work. Deep cleaning at its easiest! I allow our jets to run a full cycle before draining. It is both horrifying and satisfying to see a ring around my tub like this…
Wipe the surface of your tub down then refill with water and re-run the jets once more. If you regularly clean your tub in this manner, like I now have been since discovering Oh Yuk, Biofilm won’t form. If you don’t, you could be bathing in waters containing bacteria and mold which can lead to different illnesses and/or infections. Ick!
In case you were wondering, this product is septic safe 🙂
If you are interested in winning one of the bottles of Oh Yuk, follow one of the functions from the link below, or better yet, follow all of them for more chances to win! Good Luck Friends!
